Relationship Vs Sacrifice By Pr. Philip Lotimong
The Resurrection Sunday Service Sermon by Pr. Philip Lotimong on 31/03/2024
Theme: Relationship Vs Sacrifice
Theme Scripture: Matthew 21:12-17
■ Pharisees were focused on people fulfilling religious rituals.
■ But Jesus tells them it is about man having a relationship with God and not sacrifices.
■ Jesus is the high priest who took the sins of man once for all.
■ When you come to God, there are somethings that you should change.
■ Jesus wants to turn your tables for His glory as you celebrate Easter today.
■ The concern of the Pharisees was not about people but what they could get from people.
■ The blind and the lame were segregated that’s why Jesus heals them. The people that were segregated by the Pharisees.
■ Jesus is demonstrating that it is not about the sacrifice
■ It is not about your sacrifice but your relationship. Why? Jesus offered the sacrifice once and for all.
■ Many of us are serving God as a fulfillment of a religious duty, God is not after our duties but a relationship with Him.
■ He wants to cleanse the temple so that it represents the glory of God that it should represent.
■ It had lost the place of prayer instead of business
■ Churches are never a family business but God’s business
■ It is the temple of the Holy Spirit and belongs to Jesus Christ not man.
■ Jesus came to Jerusalem and saw priest unbothered about the people.
■ The church has to come back on track.
■ There giving of sacrifices had replaced prayer.
■ Your sacrifice can not replace your prayer.
■ Your prayer should be above your sacrifice.
■ Prayer builds your relationship with God.
■ It affects your lifestyle.
■ Your giving must come from a place of intimacy with God
■ We must learn to love God.
■ God is in the business of restoring mankind into His original plan.
■ Our hearts are the temple of God. God is in the temple that He created not the one that man created.
■ When your heart is in the right place of honoring God, God accepts your offering.
■ When you honor God, you give from the heart.
■ When you give, you give from a place of love. Never give out of fear.
■ Riches do not come from the place of giving but from the place of work. From your work you are able to give, you cannot give without giving.
■ We must learn that our God is a God of relationship, he wants you to have a relationship with Him.
■ What is in your temple that Jesus wants to drive out, is it anger, hate, unforgiveness and sin?
■ Jesus wants to enter your temple.
■ Jesus healed the lame and the blind, He wants to heal you.
■ Welcome Him into your heart.
■ If we don’t understand the cleansing of the temple, you will never understand his death and resurrection.
Happy Easter!
